Webinar on Fostering Food Security in the Drylands: Innovative Strategies for Qatar and the US Southwest in the Face of Climate Change and Growing Resource Limitations

Overview

We are excited to invite you to a new webinar of the Qur'anic Botanic Garden (QBG), member of Qatar Foundation, on "Fostering Food Security in the Drylands: Innovative Strategies for Qatar and the US Southwest in the Face of Climate Change and Growing Resource Limitations." The QBG organizes this interactive webinar in collaboration with globally renowned scientists, engineers, and professors from Qatar and Arizona in consonance with the 2021 Qatar-USA Year of Culture.
Both regions have shared challenges relating to the impact of a changing climate and growing resource limitations, including freshwater. They both stand to benefit from fostering food security by developing and adopting cutting-edge innovations that encompass artificial intelligence, robotics, controlled-environment engineering, vertical farming, renewable energy usage, as well as the incorporation of traditional local heirloom crops and edible native plants to achieve greater resilience in desert food systems.
