Women's Participation in Islamic Societies

Overview

Join this program to explore the rich heritage of Muslim women’s active roles in historical and contemporary Islamic societies with Professor of Islamic Studies, Hassan Al-Rumaihi. This program offers a critical historical perspective and will explore the influence of Muslim women in the public sphere through endowments (waqf), the judiciary systems, and jurisprudence across various historical eras. The program will discuss the revival of Muslim women’s roles in society, and how Shari’ah and Islamic heritage actively provide constructive spaces for the realization of the contributions of Muslim women.

Please note there will be no class on: Tuesday, 28 January 2025 & Tuesday, 11 February 2025.
